Bharat City , 6/21/2017
The aim of the excursion was to better understand the Indian culture and to facilitate communication between possible future German and Indian project partners. The packed programme to places such as Mumbai, Pune, Varanasi and Delhi mainly included sightseeing tours of Indian production companies. For example, the student group visited shoe factories and tanneries that also produce for the German market.
The group also visited Bharat City, a city development project north-east of Delhi, developed by BCC Infrastructures Pvt Ltd. and currently under construction. The precast concrete parts used in the construction project are produced with a precast concrete plant designed and built by Weckenmann, which the students could also inspect on site. The plant consists of stationary production tables as well as two battery moulds, each with 20 chambers.
Mr Shetty, the Managing Director, welcomed the students in his office and explained the special features as well as the various production possibilities of the Weckenmann plant. 100 to 120 precast concrete parts are produced daily in the plant. The precast parts range from load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls (exterior and interior walls) to floor slabs right through to special parts such as balconies and staircases. The precast concrete plant supplied by Weckenmann allows BCC Infrastructures Pvt Ltd. to construct a residential building with 15 floors within 100 days. After the reception in his office, Mr Shetty accompanied the group on a guided tour through the precast concrete plant. The buildings under construction were then visited. The students were able to see the practical implementation of the previously presented theoretical planning approaches.
The group was very impressed with the daily production volume and the functionality of the precast concrete plant. The project implementation between Weckenmann in Germany and BCC Infrastructures in India is also an example of the good understanding between the two countries.
