Effective corrosion inhibiting coating

Permanent adhesive magnets are used in precast concrete plants for the safe positioning of formwork profiles. The innovation of magnetic systems has led to light rare-earth magnet strips with high adhesive force. These systems have one thing in common, the sensitive reaction to corrosion enhancing conditions of use, as they are found everywhere in the precast concrete plants. To maintain the high adhesive force of the magnets over a long period, Weckenmann has equipped all rare earth magnet systems serially with an effective KS corrosion protection system. In combination with the stainless steel lamella, the Weckenmann holding magnets are well equipped for a long service life in the precast concrete plants.

The advantages of this system have been now proven in the laboratory using a salt spray test according to ISO 9227. Two identical magnet systems, one with the KS corrosion protection system, one without protection, were exposed for a period of 240 hours to a corrosive salt spray with a NaCl concentration of 50 g / l. The ambient air temperature was 35 ° C. The magnets were sprayed regularly every 30 minutes with the salt spray. While the uncoated magnet presented heavy full-surface corrosion with thick encrustations, the coated magnetic strip appeared to the greatest possible extend as good as new.

Conclusion:

An effective corrosion inhibiting coating significantly extends the service life of holding magnets in the precast concrete plants and effectively prevents a loss of value due to corrosion and wear and tear.
