Formwork specialist

Formwork elements play an essential role in the production of flat and structural concrete elements. They shape the product, define its quality and make the production programs more flexible. Their adaptability is decisive for the efficiency and profitability of production.

For that reason Weckenmann’s portfolio includes a variety of sophisticated formwork components that promise quality and Efficiency.

The requirements in concrete construction are growing constantly and are becoming increasingly complex as regards the quality of the building and profitability. High quality and efficiency are more important than ever before. This necessitates more advice on formwork and formwork systems, but at the same time more flexibility in the products on offer. Tailor-made solutions for the “perfect” precast concrete element are therefore indispensable.

Stationary formwork technology (beam formwork)

Structural precast concrete elements such as columns, girders and joists demand formwork that is as flexible as possible and easy to use and produces a high product quality. These were also the requirements that UAB Perdanga from Klaipeda/Lithuania placed on its new manufacturing facility. The company has been involved in precast construction for many years and is now also increasingly active in the international market. The company decided to build a new production building in order to be able to meet the growing demand. The stationary manufacturing facility from Weckenmann has recently been put into Operation.

The manufacturing facility consists of a twin mould for columns and two moulds for prestressed elements, as well as a concrete distributor. The twin mould offers a formwork length of 2 x 50 m, while the two individual moulds measure 48 m and 36 m. Columns in the range from 250 x 250 mm up to 750 x 1,000 mm are manufactured in these moulds. Where girders are concerned, the range from 300 x 300 mm up to 1,000 x 800 mm can be covered. In the first step, the production of prestressed hollow-core slabs began in 2015. Since the beginning of this year, columns and girders have also been available alongside the prestressed hollow-core slabs in the customer’s portfolio for international construction Projects.

The project was successfully coordinated by Weckenmann‘s Project Department together with the supplier of the prestressing equipment. Anton Ohlert from Vilnius, Lithuania is the local Partner.

State-of-the-art formwork systems and magnet technology for Sobha Limited, India

The Weckenmann formwork technology offers a suitable formwork system for every plant and every product. The plant manufacturers from Weckenmann have equipped the Sobha Group from Bangalore in India with a tailor-made formwork system for its precast element production. The Sobha Group specialises in residential and contract construction and maintains branches in 25 cities in 13 States of India. The company was founded in 1995, since when it has realised over 360 construction projects. In 2013, the modern company was recognised with an award as one of the country’s top real-estate companies and is thus one of the leading and expanding builders in India.

Up to 400,000 m² of wall and ceiling elements in various dimensions will be manufactured in Bangalore in future. The company attaches great importance to high-quality precast concrete products.

The formwork system is the “heart” of the production plants: The formwork elements give the concrete its appearance and are therefore decisive for good quality and a high degree of accuracy for the precast concrete element. The state-of-the-art formwork system from Weckenmann was designed exactly to the requirements of the precast element manufacturer and now supports Sobha in the manufacturing of floor and door elements in various sizes as well as window and door openings. The Weckenmann X-Side formwork system is used in combination with magnetic boxes. The X-Side system is impressive thanks to its toolless and easy handling. The system is equipped with steel profiles in different heights and versions, allowing wall thicknesses of between 100 mm and 300mm to be produced with a single system. In addition, the scope of delivery includes formwork profiles from the Weckenmann series A for the production of floor slabs.

The formwork system was developed by Weckenmann‘s own engineers on the basis of the architectural plans for the precast elements to be produced. As a result, the formwork system was designed exactly to the requirements of the Sobha Group: it is versatile and can be used for the manufacture of the most diverse elements. For example, it also allows for the shuttering of elements with protruding reinforcements.
